1997 Detroit GP
Fans of open wheel racing and the IndyCar Series have an exceptional opportunity to own this authentic 1997 Detroit GP race used visor, signed by 2 of IndyCar’s greatest legends, father and son duo Mario and Michael Andretti. The Andretti family is widely considered to be the most famous family dynasty in US Open Wheel Racing history and between them the pair delivered 5 driver titles and a staggering 94 race wins.
This race worn visor was used by Michael on his way to finishing 2nd behind Canada’s Greg Moore in the ITT Automotive Detroit Grand Prix, round 8 of the 1997 CART PPG World Series. Although he ultimately finished 8th in the 1997 driver standings, Michael started the year strongly by winning the season opening Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami and he went on to claim a further 4 podium finishes. His 2nd place finish in Detroit represented the last of these podium finishes and the final top 3 finish he would record at Belle Isle, a circuit where he was a race winner in 1990 and 1996.
This race used visor carries branding from the Newman/Haas Racing team’s sponsors Kmart and Budweiser and has been beautifully signed by Michael and his father Mario, the 1978 Formula 1 World Champion. To make it even more special it is accompanied by an official Certificate of Authenticity from Andretti Enterprises, Inc.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own an exceptional piece of Motorsport Gold. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
